Default Electrical load question.

I am by no means, a rocket surgeon. I need to make sure that all the stuff I'm running on my FLHXS isn't going to fry anything. I have every addition I've put on the bike protected by a fuse. Here's what I have: Daymaker LED headlight. CD LED turn signals. Added J&M amplifier, When it's d@mn cold, I hook up the gerbings jacket liner and gloves. If I have all that stuff on at once, am I going to burn stuff up or put too much of a demand on the system? I'm guessing I've added about 12-15amps to the system.....just a WAG. I understand Bernoulli and Venturi......not too sure about Ohm.......Thanks for any advice or arrows......

Led's draw less than incandescent bulbs generally so you probably went down there. The amp is a big draw for sure as is the heated gear. If it is all wired correctly your first indication of an over load besides the amp meter pegging out would probably be a rough idle as the load would take away from the engine spark. I have had that happen when we had both electric suites on at a stop light. We don't ride in that kind of weather any more if we can get away with it, but if caught in it we turn the suits off in towns.

That was on my 08 Ultra. I am not sure what the 2015 stator puts out or even if it is more output. Guess that is something to check on. Others may have a different feeling about this though.

I don't think you will have a problem unless you start adding more. There is a HD upgrade generator available as an accessory but it's not cheap. http://www.harley-davidson.com/store...harging-system

I just went through this with my 14 Limited. I've added the Boom amp and speakers, and I also use a Gerbing liner and gloves.

Dealer did an amp draw before adding the Boom, it was 10 amps with all on including the heated grips on high. Gloves and Liner will take about 15 amps, and the Boom system another 10 amps. The bike puts out 50 amps, and you want to keep at least 3 amps in reserve. 50 - 35 = 15 - 3 reserve = 12 amps still available.

You'll be fine

OP add up the watts from your various devices.

Once you have a total there are online calculators using ohm's law.

Enter your total watts, enter 12 volts and there's your answer.

each 100 watts ( at 12 VDC) is 8.33 amps if you want to do it in your head
