I'm about to get a Rushmore bike, haven't decided which one yet. Anyway, I see so many great modded bikes, but many still have the ugly dull fork lowers. Its one of the first things I'm going to do to mine. Is there a reason not to? Seems so right in your face unfinished.
I had a chrome front end put on before I took delivery of the bike. Also had a chrome inner primary cover done, and just a "few" more things...........
The local dealership did mine while I was in Ohio for Christmas. To complete the look I also had a chrome wheel put on the front to complete the look. My Christmas gift to myself. Really looks great. I'll put a chrome wheel on the back when its time for new tires later this year.

I think it looks good too but....
Is there a reason not to?...Mmmmm $$$?
I resisted due to cost on my first two bikes and my forks ended up like every other stock fork . . . pitted, bruised, and showing all the signs of age and wear. I installed them on my '12 SG and damn they looked good. But, honestly, I realized the natural look wasn't that bad so on my '14 they are a la natural. They sure look good and help protect them from all those chips from road debris but I decided to skip it this time.
Funny thing when I bought my '12 SG the salesmen (who sold me my previous 2 bikes) said that the chrome forks aren't as popular as they were when I bought my other bikes. Seemed like an odd comment but I did it anyway. For other reasons, I've not bought another bike from him or that dealer and imagine I never will.

$$$$$
I never did on my previous bike and it bugged me (12 years) to the day I traded on the 2014.
It was one of the first things I did to the Limited. But the parts and labor are pricey. It really is one of those things that should be stock. The cost at that point would be minimal.
I will consider installing chrome legs when the major front end service comes due. IMO, that would be the ideal time. I would not install the chrome front end without installing the premium front suspension at the same time.
