Default LED Tail Light Plug and Play?

I received the the Harley LED tail light for Christmas and was just looking over the instructions. No mention of how it reacts to CANBUS. I wanted to go ahead and get this installed and make sure it works ok ASAP, so my question is do I just disconnect the battery and install, or is there some other sequence involved? My service manual is on order, but I'm not even sure it would make mention of this anyway. Any help would be appreciated.

Put several of them in, never disconnected the battery. Never had an issue. There's no power to that light until the switch is on. According to the service manual they have you do that for about anything I think. Easy plug and play, DIY thing. The LED light comes with a pig tail you need to plug into you system that combines some wiring. Follow the directions, it's a piece of cake

Thanks Gunny! That's pretty much what I figured, but I know if I didn't ask, something would have gone wrong. That's just the way it seems to work for me.

I got the cd led for mine and couldn't screw them into the sockets with my bare hands. They come with a screw driver slot in the part that goes into the socket. Easy peazy after that. Run the 4 ways for a few minutes to set the canbus and your ready to ride again.

Seems like I had one wire to put into the connector based on the type bike I had FLHTK and then just plugged that connector into the bike, put the screws back in and done.
