This Saturday I was riding and all of a sudden the screen froze on the page showing the song playing from my IPOD. I pulled over and attempted to change pages...unfortunately nothing seemed to work. So I attempted the tried and true to all computer issues...reboot. So I turned the bike off and to my amazement with the ignition switch to off the screen stayed on. I attempted to cycle the switch several times but the screen stayed on and stuck on that page. I was closed to my HD Dealer so I went by. They were amazed. After several other attempt to fix the issue we were getting ready to pull the main fuze and the screen went dark.
We turned the bike back on and everything seemed to be okay...the shop ran a diagnostic check with no faults showing. As I left the shop I noticed that when I attempted to talk on the CB there was no feedback (couldn't hear yourself talk) and the FM reception was awful (Again)...both issues were previously resolved with the .2 update. Sooooooooo I went back to the shop and they recommended we re-load the .3 software again.. We did and still have the issues. We are going to try and re-load .2 again to see if it fixes the CB and FM issues. If so then we will download .3 again...
While you and the dealer were troubleshooting, did they do a factory restore, then reload the latest software update? There are many posts here about how doing a factory restore fixed a lot of persistent problems when things got hung up.

I have consistently had problems ever since 1-17.4.So I thought that I was keeping up on the updates.I have never read anything about a "factory restore".
How is that done? Can You refer Me to the thread?

UGH.
Thanks for the info. I think I will hold off on updating to .3 until those issues are resolved. Don't understand why HD they can't get it right when they do updates. Don't they check the updates prior to releasing them?
Use the Search Forums feature in the blue menu bar above and search for "Factory Reset". You can also search on "Factory Restore". Show Posts, rather than Show Threads. You will see a lot of posts there. The BOOM Owners manual recommends your dealer does it, but several people have posted the steps here on the forum. I hope this helps.
It's pretty easy to get in to the service menu. I am one who will reset prior to any updates.
To enter the Service Menu:
1) Turn ignition off for 15 seconds
2) Press and hold power and mute button while turning ignition to accessory.
3) Continue to press for 2 seconds after warning screen is displayed.
4) Release power and mute button and accept the warning
The Service Menu will display the following options:
1) DTCS
2) Audio a) EG (serves no purpose) b) Speaker test(s)
3) Display (test the LCD display briteness and color consistency)
4) Key input (test the faceplate hard keys, handlebar switches, and passenger controls)
4) Component menus (XM and Digital Audio Radio Service)
a) Module version-displays the XM versions
b) Subscription info
c) Signal status
d) XM antenna state (unsupported, detected, not detected, short, and unknown)
e) Tone generation (allows for generating left or right audio tone generated by the xm module)
f) Navigation setting (no diagnostic value)
g) GPS status (displays a graphical representation of GPS satellite position&signal strength)
H) Tuner-displays the current frequency, signal strength, RDS/RBDS info for each tuner.
I) Compass indicates current direction
5) Version information (sub menus show navigation and database versions but offer no diagnostic help.
6) Reset
a) Precalibration reset - Restores factory settings and recommended when there are no problems or DTCS
b) Post calibration save - Archives customer settings after post calibration reset
c) Post calibration reset - Resets radio default settings and restores customer data stored in post calibration save
d) Privacy reset - Clears customer data
7) Touchscreen Calibration
Mine still has the darn issue with the single Favorite button not retaining memory when programmed to Media. May sound like a small problem but that's one feature I really would like to work.
I called HD Customer service and they recommended I have my local shop do the reset process and re-install .3 software. The engineer also indicated that the CB feedback "sideband" level may be setting itself to the nominal level and that a local shop can adjust that manually. I used Finalshot's reset process and performed the RESET... It appears that the FM reception is somewhat better...but CB still has no sideband level (you can't hear yourself when you transmit). The HD Engineer also said that they just had the radio vendor engineer in yesterday to discuss some issues...(who know what that means and if we will see any changes in the near term.
Since the last update I still have the dreaded AVC issue and a couple of times I had no volume control. Had to pull over & turn off the bike to get it back. That never happened before the last update.
