What is it exactly that makes the 6 speed so noisy? Noisy as in shifting clunk. My new Limited Low sounds like someone's smacking a glass table top with a hammer . Shifting into first from neutral sounds painful. I've ridden along side other similar bikes & mine definitely sounds louder.
Thing is.... not every time. Maybe 1 out of 20 shifts sound like the gears are made of rubber... just that quiet.
This thing makes my '91 Softail sound like an automatic. I'm going to ask the dealer obviously but I'm fully prepared for the standard "they all do that". No, they all don't.
That's what makes it a Harley, LOL. But I believe you are right. My '10 RK was much louder when shifting then my '14 SGS. It appears to be a hit and miss deal; however, nothing is wrong. I rode my'10 for 33,000 miles and the trans was still solid, noisy but solid. Now you will hear using different oils, weights, brands, etc. will make it all better. I tried gear oil 75-90, 85-140 in several different brands in my '10 RK. Very minor difference, if any. Get ready.

Try squeezing the clutch a few times, then hold for approx 10 seconds before shifting into first when the bike is cold. Seems to quiet the clunk, at least for me.
Yes it's normal and has been long before the six speed. My 11 King was very loud and my 14 is a little better. I have a bud with a Polaris Turing bike a 11 or 12 and his makes more noise then my Harley.
You mentioned your bike is new, don't know if you had the service done yet but mine quieted down some after the initial break-in and the first service, still noisy but quieter. Neutral got easier to find too...
