Just looking for experiences and opinions, as I'm almost sure I'll have to change out windshields when my bike gets delivered. From what I know Harley makes wind splitter, and Klockwerks has the Sport Flare and Pro-Touring Flare. LRS doesn't have windshields for the new RG yet.
on my SG, I had a 7"wind splitter, perfect height... but it was just okay, although I always felt there were better options out there. I tried a Klockwerks 8.5" and felt so-so about it.
When its nice, I plan on testing different ones at the dealer, but being its too cold for me to ride in Ohio right now. lol
I'm running the 19" Harley Windscreen, not the windsplitter, Hoping that LRS comes out with something. They are having problems getting a bike to test on. Going to Daytona in a couple weeks hopefully I'll get to demo some there, and figure out what works best for me. The 19" is a good winter option, but would be to tall for summer. At six foot I'm looking through it and I have my Ultra seat mounted which is higher then our stock seat.
I had a 12RG, used a 12" Windvest on it, perfect. Just got another Windvest, 12" for my new 15RG.. Only got in a 5 mile test ride, looks like it is just right for me. Just like last time, there are better looking windshields out there (I liked the look of the Klockwerks) but I think this one will work better.
BTW, I am just shy of 5'10" with a 30" inseam.
Interesting Article! I'm on the 5'6" side of the review, I'm glad they had two people at two different heights review the windshields. 12" sounds like the ticket for me. I guess I can try out the 12" windsplitter at the dealership and see if I like it. If I don't like it, then I'll give the Windvest a try!
I have the regular HD 15" that I cut to 12". I find that this works very well for me as far as directing the wind & being able to see over it. Don't see me getting anything else.
I have the 12" windsplitter and it is much better than the stock shield. I bought it soon after I bought the bike mainly because there weren't many options and I needed one right away. Cee Bailey also makes windshields for the 15 RG that look nice. RG windshields sure are pricey though.
Freedom shields makes them also. I have the KW Sport Flare and feel like it may be a little too tall for me. I have not ridden the bike with it yet but its the look of it I am not sure of. I may buy one a little shorter from Freedom Shields.
