Default fangs and rain?

I have a 2014 limited and was wondering if the front fork fangs would keep the rain and cold air off my kneecaps. Seems I get more air hot or cold on my knees on the 14 limited than I did on my 2006 Ultra. It seems to me the Fairing and the lowers are all different. Do the fangs block the air and the rain better off your knees? Thanks in advance ,Bob

Lowers work better than the fangs do but they help some. I have both lowers and fangs and a home made fork deflector. The fork deflector helps the most with rain coming up over the tank as well as beard lift.

Do you find the summer heat to be worse with the fangs on here in Texas? I installed them last summer and took them off 2weeks later because I felt more engine heat when riding at sped in the Texas heat. Of course my bike is air cooled and yours is water cooled to some extent and that might make all the difference.

I'm confused... Aren't the fangs called fork deflectors?

I find that you get less air but if I open the vent doors, I get the needed air. Plus, once you get past 90 degrees, it's kind of like being in a blast furnace and a little air is better than lots of air. I leave mine on year round.

I am talking about the dish shaped one that is mounted at the bottom of the trees between the forks. I probably have the name wrong.

ETA: Okay, just found the correct term. It's called a front fork air baffle 58520-79TC but doesn't fit 14+ bikes. Here's the thread of mine that I made: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/new-r...l#post13750764

Heat and the fangs...

All I can say is the other day after a 30 mile ride in mid 70's heat, I parked & heard an unfamiliar noise from around the front of my month old Limited Low. Turns out the cooling fans were on after I shut the bike off. Never happened before, I had forgotten it even had fans.

Had just put the fangs on a few days before.

Mid 70's heat... That's funny stuff! I live in Phoenix and thats on the cool side for us. We welcome the 90's after 3 or 4 months of 105+

That being said, I originally put on the fangs for the cooler months when I ride to work in the morning. (40-50 degrees) But I found I like them so much they may just stay on. Has been in the 90's here for the past week and really haven't seemed that bad yet. We will see when the real heat hits around mid to late June.

That was my point... the cooling fans came on when it was ONLY 70's. We get well into the 100's here in the summer too. I'll be watching it closely.

I know just giving you a hard time! Been to the SF area a few times and love it. Cool by the bay, but once you get inland 30 or 40 miles it can get HOT.

My son lived in Fairfield for a while. On the 4th of July we were in shorts and t-shirts, took a drive to San Fran to watch fireworks and froze our butts off!! Poor planning...
