I got the email too. I'm not installing anything though. I will eventually send this one back and have them send me a new one. One of the switches on mine won't move so we already discussed replacing the one I have.
Depends on how everything looks with the extra diodes and all in place they may get the return and send a new one to me that's right
install mine yesterday with the CD led rear and tri-bar. flashes and strobe fine. then i get the e-mail today from emily @ CD. email back but still waiting on reply. as far as install, it was e-z and everything works fine..
Mine is all hooked up, and seems to work fine for me.
As far as CD honoring warranty if bought from somewhere else, Thats a yes.
I had a problem with my tri-lite bar, and they sent me a new. Very good CS.
I spoke to them today and they said that customers with stock bulbs were having problems with four way flashers and other quirky issues. She said that those of us that already have LED's in the turn signals won't have problems at first but that they will slowly creep up. She said the two extra diodes installed between two of the output wires fixes the issues. A diode blocks current in one direction and allows it to flow in the other. Seems a little strange that these bikes have been out two years now almost and they still need additional diodes? Who knows, mine seems to work just fine the way it is but I'll install the needed diodes. I just hope it's not a physically big bunch of wires because it's getting crowded under the seat. The diodes should be internal where they take up very little room.
Do we have to pay extra for the diodes ? Seems like it should work out of the box and should have been tested longer for issues. Mine should be here Monday.
And what problems are going to creep up?
She said that things like the four way flashers not working or the turn signals not functioning correctly were the issues they were seeing. And yes it seems after two years they could have tested every possible scenario on the SG by now. But I will be the first to say all the previous products I've purchased from CD has worked flawlessly. I don't see how they can feel good about selling this product at full price for us to beta test it. In my opinion they should have sent out a dozen to people to test in the real world for free. Or at the very least given it to us at 50% off to test it...
I got the e-mail too. Mine hasn't showed up yet, but it's in route.
I told them I wouldn't install anything. Swap the unit with one correctly manufactured, or refund me. I don't want to do any band aid fixes.
Everything I have gotten from them for my past 2 bikes and this one has been flawless. This pisses me off that they will have a fix for this and not an exchange unit. Mind you mine is on its way and not here yet. Not sure if I'm going to even install it or just call them to see if they can exchange it for one that has the fix built in
Got the email also. Hopefully we will be able to swap out our current unit for a new one with the diodes built in when they get them built. I'll ask about that when I call on Monday.
