Default Turning Over a New Leaf - '14 Ultra Classic (pics)

Sold my Road King for an Ultra Classic last year. Haven't been too happy with the bike since I've owned it, and a couple times considered selling for a loss just to get back to a Road King. Radio and GPS have not worked correctly, had a wobble for a little while, way too much nose dive for my tastes, a few smaller issues. I'm hoping that may all be in the past now. Software update 18.3 seems to have fixed my biggest gripes with the radio. Did a premium cartridge conversion to the front. Amps and speakers, relocated the license plate, etc. Just took it on a 1,500 mi cross country loaded down like a pack mule and cruise set at 80mph with only a minor issue for shifter bolt coming loose. Mostly superslab, with detours for Arkansas Pig Trail and US129 Dragon. Hoping for more happy days ahead!

I told you, loaded down like a pack mule:

Looks like you got it the way you want it now. It would be a shame to get rid of it. Your passenger must be a lot happier on the back of the Ultra over the King.

I see you have some of the U.S. 129 photo pictures. I was over there a couple of times last week. Nice bike too.

That's a 19" Enforcer right out of the HD parts catalog. I just did the front, rear is factory.

Honestly, she can barely tell a Shark from a Batwing. She does say it's comfortable, but she said the Road King was equally comfortable. (I had gel inserts put into the back seat.) She does really like the Bluetooth and rear controls on the Tour Pack.

Couldn't resist, one more pic:

Bike looks great. One question since you did the removable tourpack, do the speaker in the bag lids really sound good? I have not had the chance to hear them first hand and how do they sound with the pack on? I have been kicking around that idea for mine.

Thanks

I've always liked the look of an Ultra with the trunk removed, but what about the lack of rear turn signals on yours? Do the LEO's have a problem with it?

Great color --- much better than the "new blues"

I too am considering doing lids and was wondering how it sounds with the tourpak on as well as off. Great looking ride and super cool pics.

Turn signals - I've got Custom Dynamics Plasma Rods that are in between the filler strips and saddlebags.
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...me-home-3.html

Rear speakers - Worth every penny. This is the 2nd bike that I've done rear speakers. The new Rushmore lids only let you run 5x7 whereas the older lids you could run a 6x9. I've got 2 RF PBR300x2 for 600w total, 8 speakers with the TourPak mounted. Even when it's just down to the 6 speakers, it rocks. Not as much low frequency as with the 6x9, but the overall decibels are not for lacking. Especially for the rear passenger, the lids make a huge difference. With just the fronts running it sounds like a radio on a bike, but with the rear lids it sounds like you've got a pair of headphones on.
