It wasn't designed by Harley ...

Look in your Harley Manual, under Operation Information, it specifically says:

"STOP engine by turning the engine OFF / RUN switch on the right handlebar to OFF."

So if you want to do it a different way that's your prerogative.

Only time I use the kill switch is when I am getting gas, in a hurry, and don't want to wait on the infotainment system to boot, which at times seems to take forever. My process is, I use the kill switch, change ignition switch from run to aux, then flip the kill switch back to on, gas up, change ignition to run, fire up the bike and take off. By putting it in aux, the alarm system kicks in so if you need to use the restroom you don't have to worry about anyone firing up the bike.

Also use it if parking on a steep grade and don't want to mess with finding neutral.

I use the kill switch.

My infotainment boots RIGHT up, no delays or waiting.... with the rare quirk.

....but 99.9% of the time, it is fast. And FWIW, I turn the bike on, hit run, and when the little curser is halfway through the HD logo on the screen, I hit the starter. Music starts withing 2 or 3 seconds.

This COULD be why:

Your post in essence kinda confirms JohnnyC earlier post on the shut down procedure. I agree with JohnnyC in that you just don't unplug the power on a computer. You use the shut down procedure. Now I'm more inclined to believe that its always better to use the kill button first.
