I have also just received the AKE. So far so good. Need to wire up permanently. I will be placing my multi function button in my console. Pictures to follow
CPT Carrera, thanks for the great review. This seems to be the best available setup for bluetooth communication. I contacted the company and the Cardo G9 will work with the AKE. I ordered AKE today along with the HD headset connector kit (from HD). As you stated, out the door for under $200.
Where did you connect the power? I assume the AKE powers up with the ignition switch?
Great writeup and review. This has been driving me crazy ever since I got the RGS! No need to wait for a H-D branded bluetooth when this will make my Sena work. Thanks for the research!

I've been collaborating with Patrick74 who just ordered one. I'll caution you that while it only took 10 days there was no way of tracking it stateside so it feels pretty sketchy until it arrives. He had the same experience and was almost to the point of canceling payment when it arrived. I connected to a power source in my fairing that only gets power when I turn on the ignition. It's a .07 tyco multi fit connector which you can get off eBay for a few bucks and the pins are a PITA to crimp but I like all my connections to look factory. There are two of these (one on each side of the streetglides) and one smaller version like a .04 that I didn't touch because I don't have a crimper small enough to tackle messing with. Patrick connected off the battery directly.
The issue I have with my method and this is a theory but I think the Rushmore models draw so much on the battery at start up that it can cause the AKE to fault if you connect the way I did. Not every time but frequently I have to turn the device on and off again at start up to connect to my headset. Patrick who connected to the battery directly has not experienced this at all from what he has shared with me and his headset always pairs but he is dealing with another issue. He has got some alternator noise he's dealing with as well as another fault where his device is sticking in mono/duplex mode when the bike is running. We are thinking both his issues are related to a ground loop but don't know just yet.
I on the other hand have no issues with going from mono to stereo once connected but am considering relocating my power source to something either constant 12v or using one of the dash switches so I can start the bike then once the power is stable, hit the switch and the AKE will power on. This sounds like the preferred method but that switch kit is another hundred dollars from the MOCO.
Hopefully have it figured out in a few days and share what we learned as far as best connection methods and proposed locations.

One other point to mention is that he new AKE has a multi function switch that can be mounted in the console port where the headset jack is located. The entire unit will fit under the console. But the point to mention is you will have to drill the hole a little bit bigger in order to get the multi function switch mounted in the console. On my bike the switch base was the size of the home however the threads did not go through.
None the less, you guys are trailblazers! I was expecting the system to work seamlessly with BT. My bad, but I was just about resigned to just living with the Sena/cellphone. I'm going to be ordering one of these units and give it a whirl. Dealing with ground loops can be a real bitch. And with the complexities of the electronic in vehicles added into the equation...
I've ordered stuff from Europe before and have already had the pleasure of not being able to track a package. So if I'm lucky, I'll forget I ordered it and be pleasantly surprised when it arrives...

I installed accessory lights & installed a lighted latching switch (same as one used for driving lamps on my Limited). Parts guys wanted me to buy that switch kit too, but you only need to buy the individual switch & install it into the switch module assembly - cost was @ $18 for the switch.
Great news!!!! The problem I was having with the Stator feed back and the unit not wanting to switch from Mono to Stereo was the result of a ground loop. I had everything connected and could hear the whine and when I cut the ground going to the battery the whine went away. I was also able to swap from mono to stereo.
Yes I know read the directions----- it says only hook the negative up if you hear noise. I come from the electrical and electronic world and the more grounds the better..... Not in this case!!!!!
Now I just need to figure out how to get rid of the talkback from the bike of my own voice.....
The entire unit fits under the tank console. I left the headset cable under the console and plugged the AKE into it there, as the AKE multifunction cable is not long enough to keep everything under the seat. I may extend those wires. Power comes from the battery. Do Not Connect the Ground Wire.
In order to get the multifunction button in I did have to drill the console a little. As the hole from the headset jack is the exact size of the multifunction button base. So I need just enough to get the threads through.

After reading this post few weeks ago, I ordered the AKE. It arrived a couple days ago and I installed it today. I have a few questions/comments.
Please confirm that only my phone needs to be paired with the HD Boom Radio and only my Uclear HBC 200 HD will only be paired with the AKE.
I believe that I paired the Uclear as the AKE LED blinks Green and I hear a tone that I think indicates I am paired. I know the phone is paired with the Boom HU as it asked about Contacts and other items on the Boom Display. I don't hear any audio from the Stereo even after I cycle the MF button on the AKE.
I had the same issue at first. Clear all pairings for the AKE. You can do this by holding the multifunction button in for 10 sec on power up, release and immediately tap twice. This should clear all pairings. Clear them on your headset as well.
Yes have the AKE paired to the headset and the phone to the bike.
Not sure how the Uclear is but on the Sena you have a button the activates the phone. The AKE is paired with the phone profile. If you have such a button try pushing that once and see if you hear the stereo

Just in case: 14 SGS with J&M amp and speakers.
