If you continue having issues with down loading, just take it to the dealer to flash it for you. It should be at no cost.

No issues updating mine.

1. Download the file from HD website (Pick the correct one for your radio)
2. Unzip the file (Most newer operating systems can do this by just double clicking the file)
3. Copy the unzipped file to the root level of your flash drive.

Screen Shot of the file on flash drive: Note: Mine is for the 6.5 infotainment system.

4. Turn your vehicle's ignition switch to ACCESSORY.
5. Turn on the audio system and connect the USB flash drive to the USP port.
6. The audio system will detect the new software available and ask if you want to update.
7. Select "Yes"
8. The display will prompt you to remove the USB drive when the update is complete.

Updated just fine with no issues.

Sounds like some are just new to computers in general.

A "zip" file is in a compressed format so that it can be download faster.
It is a universal standard that all operating systems can handle.

Once you get the compressed (zipped) file downloaded, it must be unzipped before it can be used.
It isn't just an HD or Boom infotainment requirement.
This is true of any software download that is in a "zip" format.

Updated just fine with no issues.

I ran into a snag while trying to update my system AFTER I read the instructions in the owner's manual. After several attempts, I researched the forum and found this thread. Following the instructions above resolved my issue. In the owners manual, it clearly states to load the "zipped folder" onto the USB drive. That is NOT correct as I now know. That brings the total number of times that I have found incorrect instructions from the MOCO, to "3" in the past 3 months.
So much for "reading the instructions"

Thanks for the great info!

I had the same issue of unable to update my Trike software. Unzipping the files and taking them out of the folder worked like a charm. Shame the H-D website doesn't explain that. Once again the H-D forum has the answers. Thanks all

Shame the H-D website doesn't explain that.

The HD instructions do tell you that!

Copied directly from the HD site:
See the bold below.

2. Download the latest software version from harley-davidson.com
a. Select "Download Software Update" for the appropriate system.
b. When prompted, save the compressed file to your computer desktop.
c. When the download is complete, copy the file within the zipped folder to the root directory (the first or top most directory in
a file system) of a USB flash drive that is 8 GB or larger.
d. Turn your vehicle's ignition switch to ACCESSORY. (Keyless ignition vehicles: press and hold the trip switch for more than
two seconds).
e. Turn on the audio system and connect the USB flash drive to the audio system's USB port.
f. The audio system will detect the new software available and ask if you want to update. Select “Yes”. The display will prompt
you to remove the USB drive when the update is complete.
