Default Locking the Ignition

Question for other Rushmore bat wing fairing owners. Are you able to lock the ignition in the "off" position? I usually lock mine while locking the forks to the left and it locks just fine. Recently I attempted to lock in the off position and no joy. The key will not turn. I tried pushing down as you do in the fork lock position but still no go. Am I nuts in thinking it ought to lock when in off not the fork lock position. I thought my 05 Ultra did lock in the off or fork lock position.

Sorry it only locks in the fork lock position, same as your 05 did, you just thought it locked differently.

Ignition can only be locked in the fork lock position or the accessory position. I am not sure of the rationale of having it locked in the accessory position though.

Inside the ignition, that bar has a collar, that collar is held in place by through pins. The little piece that caps the end of those pins and lets the bar ride along the gear. The little end cap broke off. The bar is not riding correctly and smoothly up and down the gear, thats why your ignition is jacked and your key is doing all kinds of crazy things.

I am betting he figured it, or sold the bike by now. He may not get your reply, he has not logged in for 5 years.
