I did the 1000 mile service at the dealer just because of all the back and forth on it....anyway I now have 2800 on the bike and just yesterday changed the engine oil only and used redline. Will do the same at 6000 miles myself along with all the various "Checks" that are in the 5K service. No need to spend ~400.00 on the 5K.
I found a great Indy here in the Denver area which will do the 10K including all three fluids and the more intense checks on the bike.
Personally, I'd have full confidence in backing up my warranty claim running full synthetic for 5 or 6k (6 or 7 thousand on the odometer). One of the selling points of full synthetic (assuming thats what syn3 is) is that it can be run for more miles than dino oil . . .
