You can't do albums on the flash can you? (They would be folders I guess) It's just a flash drive with 1,000 songs or so on it if you use a flash. Am I correct? I wanted to be able to pick the genre of music, like all Pink Floyd,, Tool, or a good mix of some songs,, etc...
There is a way to do that on a flash drive but I can't tell you how. Try doing a search. I think you make folders and label them or something like that. There was a write up on here someplace that gives a step by step way of doing it. I still think you have a connection problem someplace though. Did you try another iPod cable? If you're using an after market cable, they've been known to cause problems.

I think all you need to do is connect your drive to your PC and open it. Create the folders (albums) you want and then add the individual songs to the folders you want them in. Again, I'm not that familiar with the infotainment so I'm not sure how well it will work. The only problem with creating folders on your drive is that the stereo playing the drive needs the capability to read the folders and distinguish them, some can some can't. Also does the stereo your using have the ability to sort through them and choose what you want to play?
Made some progress,, did the reset on my IPOD, it now has 590 songs, since the computer had a larger playlist. The bike finds the songs,, and it shows it "Cued" so to speak. Song ready to play, says how long it is, etc... I can scroll through the songs on the radio, but it won't start playing? I'll read my manual more to see if I have to push a button to start it. (I did push several of the bar controls,, didn't find it if that's the case)
Have you tried hitting play on the iPod after you plug it in to the bike? My iPhone does that sometimes and if I stop ms hit play on it that seems to fix it.
