Default Fitment question...

When I had my '07 Road Glide I would buy used pieces for it from the classifieds here. Fitment didn't seem to be an issue with seats, most hard parts and pipes. Has that changed with the introduction of the Rushmore Models.

If I'm looking at used, is there a line I can draw on a calendar that says generally if it fits this year model it would fit the '15 or '16 I think I'm about to buy?

It's tough being a noob all over again.

My experience looking for parts period for a '15 RK are that a lot of stuff that fit the pre-Rushmore bikes don't fit on Rushmore's. Brake arm is a great example. On the pre-Rushmore models, the brake arm angle is adjustable, on the 14, 15's (and I assume 16's) they are not. And very few aftermarket parts available as yet for new sizes. The fork on the Rushmore's is 49 mm vs. the old 41 mm(?). So an upgraded fork suspension from an older Touring bike won't fit the Rushmore.

Stuff like Bars, pegs and whatnot pretty much do, but YMMV. Brake line cables are now split into sections rather than one long cable (not sure when that started). Lights and nacelle seem to be different as well.

You can rely on your parts guy to sell you whatever they sold the last guy or do a lot of research and sending e-mails to vendors about fitment. Even Harley doesn't make that much stuff that fit Rushmore bikes yet.

I have found with my 15' SGS, some parts it's 2008 +, others it's 2014 +, I would recommend is when you run across you want or need - you'll just have to cross reference it with the manufactures website to verify fitment.
