Basically the things you mention Is what makes It a Rushmore.
I'll go on a little rant, but do respect your opinion or the right to one.
I guess you haven't had the need to brake really hard, Linked brakes changed the entire game for me, braking really hard and I do mean hard and realizing that the bike stayed leveled, rear did not sway and stopped on the dime sold It for me.
No matter how many Issues or recalls these bikes have had, hands down the best product HD has put on the road, I have owned HD exclusively for the past 30 years that might give me a little credibility.
Having said that, I have never seen so many bikers bitch and whine about BS

Not only do I love my Rushmore but working on them is easier in my opinion. You can pull the outer and inner fairing completely off in about 10 minutes. Adjusting and lubricating the steering head is much simplier. The cooling system is a snap to work on too.
Like my 2011 RGU Totaled it, liked my 2013RGU traded it for a 2016 RGU rushome.
I really like the 2016. just over 4K on it now and snow a bit to much to ride .

I had always had Metric hikes until two years ago when I bought my 2010 soft tail. I was actually on my way to a dealership to buy a new Suzuki Boulevard like the one I had. Just for kicks, I stopped at the local Harley dealer to check out what they had. Then, just for kicks, I test drove a soft tail and an RG. Long story short, I never made it to the Suzuki dealer. I loved the soft tail and bought it. Then, the Rushmore models came out. I read all the info and heard the sales pitches then test drove the 15 SG. Even as much as I loved the soft tail, the 103 SG impressed me enough to trade up. But since I'm one of those guys who's never satisfied with stock cars or bikes, I've done stage one, changed seats, replaced the suspension, removed the cat, and put on loud slip ons. Now, it's everything I want my bike to be and its an HD. Never had a metric bike as cool as this SG. Would I do it again.....yep.....any day.

How is lubricating the steering head much easier? Used to be there was a zerk fitting, now the entire fork assembly needs to be removed to do it...or is there another way?
Yet another thumbs up for the Rushmores. Limited is my first Harley, no regrets. Did lose a saddlebag this past spring but the MOCO bought me a new one. Two other recalls, neither one was causing problems. If do it all again, no hesitation.
I've had standards, sport bikes, metric cruisers and 5 Harley's in over 40 years of riding. Every time I get back from a ride on my 2014 Street Glide Special, I tell my wife it is the best bike I have ever owned. She's probably tired of hearing that, but it is true.
The strong, smooth engine, the easy shifting, the great handling, and the smooth ride all contribute to a huge grin on my face.
I had about 40 motorized vehicles in the past 35 years.
My '16 Road King is one of my all time favorites. I love riding it and hate it when I have to stop. The feeling is even better than when I drove my (former) Porsche 911 or my (former) 2010 Mustang GT.
