Hello all I have a 2015 ultra limited thinking about getting rid of the air shocks and installing the premium ride hd ones. The question is if I go with the 1 " lower version will the ride suffer and can I leave the front alone.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ALL REPLIES
There are enough shock threads on this forum to make your head spin. The short answer is yes you can lower it 1" with shorter model and yes the ride quality will suffer. You don't have to mess with the front forks.

I would advise getting the stock height. This is what I have. In addition, I also did the HD premium in the front struts.
I went from the stock air shocks to the 12" Premiums.
The ride improved greatly.
I then went from the 12" premium to the 13" Premium, and the ride improved day and night.
From a guy that has had all 3, do yourself a favor, and get the standard height version. The "low" will actually net you less than 3/4' at the seat, and isn't worth the sacrifice in ride.

The questions I have is, why? What are you trying to accomplish? How much is your riding wieght? I have a '14 Limited and my riding wieght and style differs so much I would have to have three different shocks. Riding alone without the trunk I suffer with my air really low because I like the way it looks. When I am two up my air ride works nice. I am going to do something with the front being too squishy when loaded.

Yes, the ride will suffer if you go to a shorter travel shock.
Yes, you can leave the front alone if you want.
But I would not go from the 13" air shocks to the 12" Premium Hand Adjustable Shocks.
I went with the 13" version of the Hand Adjustable Shocks and am completely happy.
But I wasn't trying to lower my bike any.
I switched to the 13" version of the premium shocks when I had my Street Glide, and the ride really improved
