Thanks for the updated link. Much appreciated! I'll keep it on my watch list and hope the cnd dollar gains value. Maybe after Trump wins the primary? LOL, jk...

I cut a few about 6-8 inches off my stock antenna using a dremal. Then I put the original cap / tip from the cut of piece onto the shorter antenna. I haven't use the bike lately but can't see it affecting the performance much.

I have had the short HD ones on for a couple of weeks (got them from a forum member). No difference noticed from the stock ones that came with the bike. Same reception for me.

Keep in mind the CB antenna needs to be tuned to the specific installation. An improperly tuned antenna will reduce the range and quality of the transmission/reception. A really poorly tuned setup can actually damage the radio. That's why I went with the Harley shorties. They are a bit pricier but are pretuned for the Harley installation. I've had zero issues with them and the CB works great.

I just purchased these tonight. http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail.asp?ProductID=HBSA-1416

I ordered two as I have a CB as well. CB performance hasn't been the best and I had purchased the updated ground and coax which will provide better CB performance and I just installed it tonight. I'll know more when I ride this weekend now much better CB performance is. When I get the new shorty antennas I should also see better CB performance.

I know you were only looking for shorter antennas for the look but I wanted the better CB performance and the new shorty antenna's from J&M worked out to my favor that I'll also have a better look along with better CB performance.

They also offer 20% discount to forum members. I have had nothing but great service and fast email response anytime I have reached out to them. They are one of the few companies out there that provide excellent customer service and continued service of their product well beyond the warranty. I have been using J&M for helmet speakers, universal CB (previous two bikes) and now antennas since 2005. Top notch company!!

For my last two bikes, I had installed the internal fairing antenna. The reception is great, but I don't have a CB on my Road Glide. I'm constantly putting on a removing a cover, so the internal antenna makes it very easy for me.

It doesn't make a difference. Believe me I live in the sticks so reception is dear around here and I'd notice! .......... I have an HD shorty on my Limited and all it accomplished was give the shorter look, did nothing for reception. To top it off the big gooby end broke off and luckily it exposed a tit large enough to but a rubber end cap on it. Even found one to color match ......

On my SGS I just cut off the stock antenna the same length as the stubby and put on a rubber end cap. No reception loss ............ In the following pic you can see mine opposed to my buddies HD shorty.

I kept the stock antenna and ran it under the fender and up and out around the seat. Reception is fine and all I had to buy was the $.99 rubber cap to go on the fender where the antenna used to come out. There's a few videos on youtube that run you through how to do it. I know it would work for your FM but not sure on the CB since I don't have/use CB.
