I want to replace the antenna's with something shorter. Something about 12" - 15" long is what I am thinking. I am not sure about the stubbies, Do the pick up any thing. I do use the CB some , so I want something that works close range at least. The stubbies would be nice with bike cover.
I put the HD shorties on my 14 Limited. I lost about 10 miles on how far out of the city I got before loosing the FM stations. Never listen to AM and never tried the WB with the shorties. The CB actually works better with the shorty. I was told that is due to the shorties having better SWR's than the stock antenna.
I have a Stubbie about 4” high and works fine but I’m in the Chicago suburbs with a pretty strong signal. Won’t even pretend that it works as good out in the country but then I just plug in my iPod.
I have the HD shorty on my Street Glide. I like the look but it doesn’t have the reception that the stock antenna. As far as my cover, I figured out where the antenna was going to go through, put a small slit in it the cover and then put a grommet in the slit....problem solved.
