How many mount theirs on the bar? And what are the extra perks for it? (Besides just another distraction? )
I'm sure there are pros, but are they enough to have the bar cluttered so to speak? I ALMOST asked for the cell phone holder they offer with the V&H tuner, since it works off the BT on the phones for tuning and viewing I think.
I mounted mine so I could watch while I was doing the auto tune runs. Not planning to leave it on, but there are gauges you can view while riding. I wanted to get an idea of the normal coolant and head temp on my new limited. There are a lot of other gauges you can set it up to view.
It's not necessary to leave it on.
I don't leave mine on the bike either.
Just make sure the PV has the current firmware and software. If I remember correctly it is in the instructions. I think FM had mine up to date. I do check mine from time to time. (Through winpv software)
I plugged mine in to load the tune. I rode the bike and was satisfied with the tune. Power Vision sits in my cabinet until the next modification comes around. I could not imagine mounting that anywhere on the bike to look at some gauges.
I like having it mounted, when it's safe I occasionally glance down to check coolant and engine temp. I was able to verify that the fans come on at exactly 221 deg coolant temp when under 15mph. You can actually visualize that the thermostat starts to open at 165 and is fully open at 190 by monitoring the coolant/engine temps and seeing that the coolant temp climbs quickly to 165 and then takes much longer to reach 190, with corresponding rate of change in engine temp.
Before I mounted it I thought "something must be wrong, the fans almost never come on", now I see that the twin cooling works so well that the parameters are rarely reached to call for the fans to come on.
Those who replied with Limiteds,, ok, I understand, mine is still all air cooled though, no fan, no coolant temp to monitor. Mine will go in my tool box until I do cams or something else later, LOL. Thanks all
