Default Adjustable Backrest Install Question

Hi All, I just installed the HD adjustable backrest on my 2015 ultra limited with stock seat. Rode the bike today and love the backrest. But it's spreading the seat open quite a bit when I have the the backrest positioned where it's comfortable. Is this normal or did I F-up the install somehow? Thanks!

They only install one way, so I'm sure the install is fine. The fact that it adjusts almost 2 inches and is in a 1/2" slot is the reason it opens up.

Thanks! This makes sense and I guess it's pretty obvious. I'm going to see if I can figure a way to put a little skirt around the backrest arm to try and cover the hole a bit to keep water out.

I wouldn't worry about it. Any water that gets in there will just run down the fender to the ground.

My back rest is pushed as for back as it will go which is where it fits me the best then I placed the passenger hand strap over the open space behind the backrest and it covers most of the open space. It's worked well that way on my last two bikes. I'm using a Hammock seat.

By the way I like color of your bike.

It looks even worse on a Sundowner. I need to reshape the arm on it to get it to fit properly.

Yeah, with my luck all that water will pool up around my ECM and I'll quickly have a fancy looking paper weight.
