Just bend the cap a little more so the wire does not rub anything. Don't worry it is made to bend.

Local dealer found this problem on several of the 14/15's last year and corrected as each came in for service.

What happens when they start to short on the tank? Maybe check your bikes.
Every Rushmore built is like that and the MOCO couldn't care less about their sloppy design defect.

I used a zip-tie around the wire and the little extension on the rocker box bolt to hold the wire away from the tank. Did it on the showroom floor before taking delivery of my new bike.

Thanks for the heads up here. Ill definitely look at mine now. But for you guys that complain about the littlest type of ****, please stop, you are embarrassing yourself. People like me dont have the time to take their bikes to the dealers a complain about something as stupid as wires rubbing on a tank. If you see it then fix it. This is why we have forums to let everyone know about simple fixes like these.

Right? I mean are you guys that weak?

My 14 SGS had it too. I put a strip of adhesive backed foam inside the tank tunnel & bent the connector too. Its been working fine for 2 yrs.

Just kind of the way of the world now it seems. "I should be able to obliviously stumble through life and everybody else should be responsible for doing everything perfectly so that I never need to think or apply myself".

There was a jackass in another thread complaining about low brake fluid levels that he noticed 25,000 miles after the fact, after some dealer did brake work.. and the title of the guy's thread was "this is why I do my own maintenance". Apparently assuming rather than checking is maintenance now.

I had the same issue. Plug wire replaced and secured by dealer. Any dealer that doesn't want to take care of a minor issue like this to keep a customer happy really doesn't deserve repeat business. I'm sure the MOCO can afford to send each dealer a box full of plug wires and zip-ties, but since they aren't interested, it was nice to see my dealer step up to the plate.

While I agree with you that people should be fixing that stuff themselves, I will say that I had zero interest in paying for the new plug wire. I didn't have the bike for a month and it was near worn through. I would have been just as happy to walk away with the new wire in my hand and not on the bike.
