Default Front plug wires

Has this happened to other bikes. The front plug wires on my 2015 Street Glide Special and 2015 Ultra Limited are rubbing against the tank and wearing through. Both bikes have less than 5000 miles on them. I talked to Harley dealer and they said I had to buy new wires any route them so they didn't rub. I would think this should be a Harley recall. What happens when they start to short on the tank? Maybe check your bikes.

Several threads on this subject. This has been a known issue since the Rushmore hit the streets. As to why the MoCo hasn't issued a recall, who knows? Mine hadn't rubbed through, so I was able to secure it where it's not rubbing.

It isn't a safety issue, you will never get a recall.

I was made aware of the issue from an earlier thread. I watched it and when it rubbed through to the insulated blue cover I complained. My dealer replaced it under warranty. Stress that you don't want to get stranded if the wire shorts. Good luck!

Not even if you're tooling down the interstate in heavy traffic, the wire rubs through and your bike stalls or dies on you with an 18-wheeler on your ***?

Let me rephrase that. They don't consider it to be a safety issue.

Mine was replaced under warrantee and the tech put wire loom on the new wire to protect it from running again.
