Scenic curves for me. Twisty's require total concentration. Scenic equals enjoy the view. I've ran the backside of the Sawtooth National Forest in Idaho switchback after switchback and while its beautiful is also challenging. Slow rolling curves in a scenic environment equals perfect.

I haven't compared the two in question but I do know if it's set on fastest or shortest and you go off route it constantly tells you to turn around. When set on scenic and you go off route it re calculates using the way you're currently going, so I'm keeping mine on scenic.

You can go to the menu and hit skip next waypoint and it will quit telling you to turn around.........until you go off route again....LOL.

Mine has often tried to put me on dirt roads as well in Arkansas. Both twisty and scenic. I usually just skip next waypoint and it recalculates the route from where I am most times.

There are many things about the gps that could be better. Most cheap garmin gps's have more data visible on other screens. Ours you have to change the one screen option from distance to destination, or time t. d., or elevation,.... That would be pretty easy to add a separate screen with all that data on display, but then HD would probably get sued because of the idiot that ran off the road again....LOL. I used a Garmin on my other bikes for years and just find I miss not being able to see all the info easily. My only minor gripe with the system.

I'm just wondering how you found the route preferences to actually be.

Does scenic really always give you a more picturesque route?

And as such; do you prefer Twisties to Scenic or vice-versa?
I have not done a route on a Rushmore more than once. I have been on several different road trips on my Rushmore, but none more than once.

On my non Rushmore bikes in the last 40 years YES I have ridden to the same destination on a different route.

Have you tried setting the options to avoid unpaved roads?

Mine has never tried to route me onto a dirt road (even in Northwest Arkansas).

Don't know what the heck I selected last week. But I came across a Goat with a sign that said turn back now. On heck of away to get in to Pigeon Forge through the back way.

My Wife And I Just Returned From NH to PA trip And I Tried The Twisty Option. It Would Take Us Off Main Roads And Route Us Through Every Housing Development And Industrial Park We Passed, Just To Dump Us Back Onto The Main Road A Few Hundred Yards Further Down. Although Technically The Roads Could Be Considered Twisty Its Not Really What We Had In Mind...

That made me laugh harder than it should have. Mine put me on a dirt road that runs right below the Cherahola Skyway. I was on pavement one second and then one lane gravel on the side of a mountain with no way to turn around the next. It's funny now. At the time, on my brand new SGS, I did not find the humor.

Mine put us on a logging road, we left Fontana Dam on 28 headed back to Robbinsville, we came out 2 miles from Deals Gap on Tapoco RD(129) I could hear my wife cussing me and she was behind my bro.

But it definitely did find my definition of twisty finally!
