They are far superior in ride and handling than the air shocks. Easy to adjust for different weights.
Bought mine for $300 used and sold air shocks for $100. Got the 12" ones as do not like the jacked up look of the longer ones and makes it much easier for me to jockey it around in the garage and parking. Ride is super plush conpared to the same length air shocks.
Not as good as the Ohlins, but far simpler to set up and adjust.
I'm not stating he can buy them for that price... I'm saying they would be worth it at that price. I don't watch the sale Section on this forum. But in my opinion even the 12s are likely to be 250+
I got the shorter shocks when I lowered my bike. First set leaked oil and were replaced under warranty. I have over 20000 miles on the second set, all two up. Love the comfort. Great product.
Premium 12" will improve ride over the 12" air shocks but 13" air or premium will definitely be way better then either 12" shocks but then cool factor suffer on the SG or RG look. Progressive 944 reg height won't change the appearance of the bike but will give you the ride comfort of 13" shocks.
Sorry, but I would not waste money on "any" shock built by Harley. There are many great shocks out there but you will have to spend a little more. I spent 700 on Terry Cable and love them. Ohlin makes a great shock also. The Progressive 412 can be purchased for around 300 and the 944 as much as 750 and are still better than anything Harley, "but" you get what you pay for. How much do you like your back?
I have the 15' SGS and the premium shocks are terrible. The springs they put on are just way too stiff. I have zero travel even at the softest setting. I'm going with the Legend Revo's.
I just did this mod. Ditched the air shocks, and replaced them with the Harley Premium Ride Adjustable. HANDS DOWN a MUCH better ride. I am VERY pleased to say the least.

It's all about tuning and dialing them in and a little breaking in.
