I have 2500 miles. As far as tuning, all there is is preload. I have tried numerous settings. I'm guessing with 2 inches of travel they had to use a stiff spring.

I just recently switched out my progressive 444, for the Premium HD hand adjustable shocks. I mostly Ride two up and there was a noticeable difference in comfort. So far very nice.

I purchased a pair of 2015 Premium Hand Adjustable shocks for my 2014 SGS because I had heard that they were much-improved over the 2014 version, but they seem just the same to me. If you are a lightweight guy like me (160 lbs) then the bike barely knows you are there and you get the heck jolted out of you over every crack even when set to the lowest setting.

Trust me... Even if you're a not so light guy like me it still jolts you.The better valving, adjust-ability and proper springs of an aftermarket shock makes a world of difference. I'm an Ohlins snob so I'm very happy with my replacements.

So whats up with setting the preload? I set them at just 1 click {220} just so it would take the slop out of the **** and to start off weak. Im here to say I wont be turning them up any higher. I figure me and all the junk I haul around weight at least 300# easily so I can see from other posts that it would be a problem.
I do like them, much improved ride but man, just how much weight "could" they handle?

You need to tighten them up (turn clockwise) and I think you will find your ride will improve. To much slop I don't think everyone knows how this works.

Tighten them up some maybe 2-3 clicks at a time. I think you will find a better ride. And shocks don't support the weight. You talk about 300 lbs. What about a bike with 2 200lb riders plus loaded bags?

Guess you don't ride in Michigan much? Our roads have expansion joints bigger the highest hills in central Ohio.

I found the hand adjustable shocks(13") are a marked improvement over the stock air shocks. No more bottoming out on big bumps or railroad tracks.
