I stopped at my local dealer today to see if they had any 2017's in Laguna Orange.
They had this SGS that they had already added a Screamin Eagle air cleaner and slip-ons.
I had to leave, so I wouldn't be tempted to test ride it.
It was real nice!

I still want to hear one of the M8's running with some sort of slip-on. If HD will have a shiat fit over modded '17-up models, that will be a big problem. I don't know the % but I would say more than the majority of HD owners would freak out if adding exhaust became a thing of great trouble and risk.
I am not sure that I catch your drift here. Are you suggesting that you have the inside word that a new frame will be forthcoming in the 2018 model year? I am curious how you connected the dots to arrive at this. Mind sharing?
I have no clue just a guess at
another way to sell more models next year. I hope I'm wrong but it just seems to roll like that! It's does make since to make softails and touring the basic same platform. Cuts production cost. Again just a guess..

As in the past, anything done by the dealers, within emissions guidelines, will be covered and not be an issue. They have slip-ons, a street tuner, and some other stuff available, but I seriously doubt anything will get it's cat removed in a dealer shop, nor will it be covered if it comes in for service with the cat removed and an aftermarket installed.
a couple of years ago my dealer noted on my service report "cat convertor removed by customer" I was like wtf ????? its about liability
Funny, My dealer removed the cat on my bike for $100.00 bucks. They call it header service. Maybe I'll ask them if there offering it on the 17's next time I'm there!!!
If you actually read the articles EPA said off road claim doesn't mean anything.
After market pipes are easy to make. But you still need to read map for them
Ummm.... i actually read the artical and it is quite clear. Any emission part not epa approved is in violation. If the dealer or anyone else sees any part stamped or marketed for off road use they would deny any powertrain claim and report it on a 17.
I've never had much use for a HD warranty. They performed the clutch and saddlebag recalls on my bike. If I planned to do much modding, I'd wait a couple of years to see what really happens with the M8 instead of trying to read tea leaves.
I think that I bought my last HD and will have it until I can't ride any longer. At the end of the day, there is much reason to switch. If I get bored I might build a 113 or bigger for my '15 SGS.
I am just sitting back and watching the show. 07-08 repeat with the 014 recalls. Let the others test them out. Wait for the aftermarket and see if it's worth it a few years down the line. The EPA crap along with the dealers having to fall in line with the 17's and up is another side show. Not hating on people liking them. Just watching.
