Thursday morning on my way to work the newspaper deliver man makes a left turn in front on me with about 3 car lengths between me and him traveling at 35mpg . As I approach his rear bumper I break and go left into the left turn lane to avoid him. He doesn't exhilarate and as I'm on the side of him he pulls into the left lane and hits me. I go down on the right side and as I let go of the bike it flips to the left side. Scraped elbow and knee and bruises. Take to dealer and there telling the insurance possible total? WTF. I can't believe it.
First off, glad you're here to tell the story....heal up fast.
The bike looks like plastic, but don't know about frame...course new plastic is expensive.
Make sure his insurance pays for all clothing, helmets, etc that was damaged. Also pain and suffering, Doctor etc....
I am so glad you were not seriously hurt and are here to tell us your story. It does not surprise me that they want to total it. Not going to give any advise to you as I have never (thankfully) had any experienced this. Whichever way you go, I wish you the best of luck. Hope you are back riding soon!
I just got mine back Friday night after my wreck with a deer.
They replaced every painted part except rear fender.
Front forks triple trees and Highway bars.
If the frame isn't bent you should be ok, at the price of these bikes it takes Alot of money to total them.
If you don't want it totaled start the talks early... a good insurance adjuster and service writer can do a lot.
Good luck keep us posted.
P.S. if it's not totaled and you want new... ask your dealer about trading it while damaged... gets you back on road sooner and sometimes you can save alot of insurance money.
