Default Screamin Eagle Street Cannons

After much reading and positive reviews I decided to buy a used set of SE Street Cannon slip on mufflers with 5K miles on them. I love the sound around town and accelaration but at 75 MPH they are so loud I get a head ache. My question is there a way to quite them some at high speed. Thanks for any suggestions. Bob

Sounds to me like you either have a decat'd headpipe or the baffles were removed from the slip-ons. I have the same ones on my '14 Limited with over 80k miles and I don't consider them loud at any speed.

I have probably 7k my Street Cannons and I had the same issue (problem...). The sound is amazing, love the tone...perfect. Off the line and cruising around town, VERY nice...BUT...on the interstate and climbing a grade a 80 mph, they are frigg'n LOUD.

Ya, ya, ya...everyone has their own definition of LOUD, but after a couple of hundred miles the dB of that perfect tone will just hurt, and I'm wearing a FF Shoei. Last ride, my ears rang for 2 days, sometimes I'll put in earplugs along with my FF helmet.

With all that said, I understand they can be repacked, which I intend to do this winter. Just remove the end cap and pull the guts out, wrap with new packing and I understand they are back to the original dB without changing that wonderful tone.

My bike is stock except for slip ons. Looking in the mufflers you can see a wire screen so I assume baffles are intact. Thanks

Wearing a FF or 3/4 helmet will definitely amplify the sound. I wear my 1/2 helmet as much as I can to avoid that amplification effect.

Back in 2012 I had a Heritage that was crazy loud. That thing would hurt my ears at darn near idle! Suddenly it didn't anymore. I don't think it's ear damage because when I ride into high altitude my ears pop and I suddenly have 'super hearing' lol. Wish I had that all the time, but soon as I come back down the muffling comes back.

OK Think I found my problem, I pulled 1 apart today and about the 1st 1/3 of the packing on the intake end is all broken down. Now next question what is a good new packing material and where do you get it? Thanks

We repack the silencers on dirt bikes all the time. Same stuff. Check Rocky Mountain or Dennis Kirk etc. Do a search for "packing"

Agreed... I had S/C's installed before I took delivery of my 16 RGS - really nice sound. BUT THEN... I installed a FM Jackpot 2-1-2 header and DAMN what a difference!!! Those S/C's changed attitude
