Am I correct that the Ultra raises you up about an inch and a little forward and the Ultra Low drops you down about a half inch and moves you forward a little more? Is comfort comparable? Even though the Ultra Low has been allegedly discontinued it can still be had at dealers and online. Thanks.
Since I own a Ultra Limited LOW and not a SG LOW, I can't respond to any discontinuations of the SG LOW.......but I can tell you that the LOW seat on the Ultra Limited does lower the rider about 1" and does push the rider forward. It's for that reason that decided to change out my "low" seat for the stock Ultra Limited seat. So now I ride a "Low" model (with factory lowered suspension) and factory pulled back bars while sitting on a standard UL seat. It works perfectly for me. (5'9", 180 lbs., w/30" inseam)
HD still makes the Ultra Classic's and Limited's in the "Low".
For 2017 the Ultra Classic Low has been discontinued, but the Limited Low is still available. Both bikes use the same seat. I think the Low seat is about 1" lower than the standard, it definitely pushes you forward and may be a little narrower. I've seen some Low takeoff seats on eBay at times.
You are correct on the measurements. Have you actually sat in both seats?
I wear a 40-42 pants and 6.0 tall and from personal experience the Ultra seat as far as comfort is a killer on the man parts and the low seat will just destroy your man parts.
Low seat, they remove a bunch of padding so even at that point very uncomfortable.
IMO your seat must be comfortable or what fun is it to ride the bike? If you have to be more flat footed then check out some boots with taller heals.
Best OEM seat I ever owned was the Hammock. Give it lots of thought or you'll be spending a small fortune on seats and other parts.
The Low seat will give you a serious reverse wedgie. It also is pretty much the equivalent of taking 1" of travel out of the rear shocks... it's like your cheeks are sitting on the frame rails.
I have the stock seat for my Limited Low, but change to the standard Limited seat for any out of town riding.

Check out Mean City Cycles to modify your seat. They do great work at a fair price.
Call them, tell them what you want your seat to do. They are honest and will not try the sell you the highest priced mod. When I got my seat done, I told them what I wanted, they actually told me a lower priced mod will work better for me.
I put an Ultra low seat on my Ultra Classic and it is my favorite seat so far. Gives me the same comfort as the stock seat with out the feeling that I am riding on top of the gas tank. Also makes my windshield more effective being a bit lower.
