CSMHOG stated "BTW if you got tire and wheel coverage with your bike, the brand of tire you use doesn't matter, it's all covered."
I would suggest reading the fine print of your wheel/tire coverage if you have it, mine in Canada reads only OEM tire. Translated means only tires with a HD part number which for the touring bikes brings you back to the original Dunlops or co-branded HD/Michelin Scorcher.
i installed th HD/Michelin Scorchers and so far am very happy with the handling and the ride.
Standard OEM tires - I get an estimated 25,000 front and back. Then I change - and still have life on them
I have 15K on the stock tires and will easily get another 5-10K on them, I'm sticking with OEM when the time comes. I have a compressor in the garage and check and adjust the pressure every time I go out...
Another vote for Commander II's. Best handling tire in my experience. Sportier handling and virtually eliminates the lane change wiggle. I've had them on three other Harley's and they will be my next set on the RGS.

Probably has a lot to do with your dealer as well. Our is honor regardless of the brand of tire.
On my forth set of the Dunlop American Elites, and am getting 20K+ on both front and rears. It's the exact OEM tire with a different tread pattern so as to not **** off the mothership, and a WHOLE lot less expensive-
It never fails whenever someone asks about tires there are those that have reports of amazing mileage on whatever brand of tire they are rolling on. I would like to know how the guys who say they are getting 30k miles out of a set of motorcycle tires are doing it. That's 49,000 kilometers. What's your secret? Maybe riding them right down to the cord. No throttle when you take off from a stop? Slow speed? Maybe just dreaming?
The best I've done is 24,000 kms (15,000 miles) on MCII's. I don't do burnouts, I cruise at close to posted speeds. I would really like to know the secret of getting 30,000 miles out of a motorcycle tire. The OEM Dunflops gave me 10,000 Kms (6,000 Miles). I've been running MCII's ever since. On my 3rd set now and love them.

I got 22,000 out of the stockers on the 14 LTD, lot of variables, road conditions, driving habits, tire inflation ect. Now have a little over 10,000 on the MC 11's with a lot of tread left. I never heard of 30,000 tho, first time getting that many on a set, only since the Rushmore

UltraZac - you know, you might be right. I could tell you my story in 1000 words - or just show you these. What do you think? Front and rear tire at 18300 miles

LOL, I was gonna do the same thing. I'm at 15.5K miles and plenty of tread left, EASY 20K and then some. I don't do anything special other then, as I said, check the pressure before every ride. I prefer side roads but have done my fair share of open highway, no hard braking or hard starts. I don't get it, it's like the "why do the software updates work for some and not for others" mystery...
