My experience with iPhones, (which I love): They shut off when they get really hot from temps & sun. It's a built in feature. Mine shut off sitting in a plastic tank map bag on hot days. On the other side, when snowmobiling, the screen starts to get red bands and pixelate in the cold. I keep mine in my pocket all the time now and it works fine. Bluetooth your phone to the bike.
My first 6s was shutting down with 30% or more battery life. It was replaced under warranty. The second 6s had 11 "panic attacks?" or something like that where it would just shutdown and not come back on for hrs. I forget what the tech called it but it was panic something.

Now my 7 is restarting in the middle of using it.

The only thing i can think of is they have plugged into my bike for hrs at a time.

These shut are occurring at random times. Like at work when it hasn't been plugged into my bike for more than the 15 min ride there.

I've rarely used the blue tooth because it didn't seem to get as loud, but I guess i'll have to give that a try. Not as concerned about the phone this time though because i got the insurance.

I've had mine overheat in my car and on my bike. They usually act weird and need a hard shutdown. It also seems to drain the battery. I've found on long rides that if I turn off the Wi-Fi (quick swipe at the bottom of the screen) the battery last a lot longer.

Battery was junk, decided to go to Apple and come to find out my bluetooth was going bad. Apple replaced the whole phone, I thought my SG bluetooth was the problem

I've been using my original iPhone 6 since 2014 on a 2014 SGS and now on a 2016 RGS with only one issue: sometimes when going over large bumps the phone would loose the connection with Infotainment. I solved this by putting some padding under it to act as a cushion. I've had no battery issues and it stays plugged in inside th compartment for hours at a time.

My 2.5 cents: I'm wondering if you leave all your apps open? That'll drain your battery super fast! I religiously close mine after using them.Maps & the camera app are energy hogs. Also, in settings, under cellular, turn off access to apps that you don't use frequently. And if you have an Apple Store handy, schedule an appointment with the "Genius Bar". There might be an app conflict on the phone. They should be able to help you with your iPhone experience overall.

Another item I use to extend the battery life on my iPhones is to use a Mophie battery case. It comes in 100-150% models that add hours to your phone. The impact resistant case is actually a battery. I've been able to listen to tunes non-stop on trans-Atlantic flights. And you can get the waterproof one in 100% extra battery life configuration. That one is the one I use dirt biking because I'm always getting wet.

For the Bluetooth volume, make sure the volume setting on your phone is all the way up. If not, that will limit the volume on the bike or any other external speaker-headset setup.

Default iPhone 6 and 6s

I have 2 phones (one is on a Canadian Carrier the other on T-Mobile) and neither have had any issues. And with the latest software upgrade Siri is now working. I just came back from a 4300 mile tour from Winnipeg to Galveston and back and the phone was plugged in the whole time without any issues whatsoever.
