Default electrical help

I want to install a right hand switch pack module that contains the cb ptt switch on my 2016 flhxs. My plan is to wire the ptt switch thru two relays to control the up and dump solenoids for an air ride. Someone mentioned it might not be possible due to the rushmore bikes using the canbus system. I don't really know the canbus system so I was hoping someone could give me their thoughts on if this is possible.

Someone was correct. You'll need to plan a different way to control your air ride.

Thanks Hammz but that is not what I was hoping to hear. I don't understand the canbus system but was hoping it would still work since it is "just" a switch.

Not "just a switch". The switch itself is mounted in a module. The module will output a digital signal (message) carrying the switch status information onto the canbus. Other modules on the canbus that are programmed to respond to different, specific digital signals (messages) will react/change their outputs based on receiving the correct digital data (message). This method allows for less wiring but means the switches no longer directly control their own independent wiring circuit.

In the specific case of the CB PTT/Squelch Up/Squelch Down switch, the switch is mounted in the Right Handlebar Switchpack. That switchpack will output a digital message onto the canbus when it sees changes in the status of that particular switch.

Welcome to the world of digital technology.
