Have searched to no avail, I have been looking how to make a screen to block bugs from coming thru. Klockworks has one for 50 bucks, I think that is to much for a small piece of mesh.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also how does the black plastic trim come out? Thanks for a great site!
Take the $50 you didn't spend on the mesh and use it to buy a service manual, which will explain how to remove the black plastic trim. Then go to a hardware store and buy a small piece of mesh screen for a buck or two and cut it to fit the vent.

flash1964 - I see you have 26 post so will consider you somewhat new. With that, please allow me to say welcome.
I think you have a great question and pretty nice idea. I've not considered a mess because in the 4 years I've had my limited, I don't recall seeing any bugs summing into the vent.
The one I saw from Big bikes was just over $50 - actually looks pretty nice. Remember, this is more than just the mess - but an entire chrome vent that includes the mess. I chromed mine and, in my opinion, it looks a lot nicer that the black one.
Big Bike parts also just has the mess (chrome) for $21. Looks like it just slides right into the current one.
You fail to mention the bike model or what type of fairing you have.
I don't know about the batwing style fairings, but there have been numerous people posting about making homemade screens for the Road Glide's lower (headlight) fairing vents from various materials. If you're talking RG, just google "road glide fairing vent screens".
Thanks for the replies I have a 15 Limited Low . I do have a service manual but as a former certified GM tech and service mgr there is always tricks to doing things that are NOT in the book.

I agree price is ridiculous for what you get.. especially since it is full of holes! It would be great if someone had a template they could post up...
There was someone on Facebook that posted up in the Road Glide page about screens he was selling for like 20.00 shipped in chrome, stainless or for additional money, painted to match the bike....Cannot remember his name. Anyway, if your on Facebook do a search.
