Pokey074 - I have never seen this error and without trying to review your actual file, I can't duplicate it here on my system or my pc.
I again share the comments with RolloMo - try one of the suggested planners - they do work.
If you like, I have a ride planned. Can send it to you to load on your flash drive. You should be able to import that.
Finally, I am not certain about your flash drive - you said it no longer works in your PC. Can you completely format it - do a full format, not a quick format and then add the file. Otherwise, try a different flash drive.
If you wan to route, e-mail me at cycle7447#aol.com
I think I have some answers for you.
I created a route in Google Maps. Then, I pasted the ling and used Visualizer to convert the route to a GPX file. Next, I save the file to my flash drive.
Took the flash drive to the bike, went to import it - and could not do it.
Next, I decided to import that same file to my Honda Ride Planner. Just log onto Honda ride planner and look for import.
When I imported the same file that I saved, I was able to see the file on my PC. I then used Honda to export the file to my flash drive.
When I put that flash drive in the bike, I was able to completely import the trip that I made in google maps.
Please try the same thing - import your saved google maps route into Honda. Then export to the flash drive and let us know.

Plongson - I have the latest update on my Boom - and can import gpx files with no problems. What issues/errors are you receiving?
OK...I got it to work with the latest version firmware. I did fall back but changed the filename to one word with NO spaces. I also reduced the number of points to 48...it worked...
I then did a factory reset, wiped everything clean, installed the 1.21.2.1, installed the mapset with the modified file name and reduced points and VIOLA! It worked.
The map I made was built in Google MYmaps, exported to my PC, then opened in Garmin BaseCamp. It is initially a TRACK with a shirt load of points but then converted to a ROUTE with less than 50 pts....Activity Profile was DIRECT.
Sounds complicated but really very simple, and works great...after a bit of a headache...lol
Here is a note though. With the original mapset that failed, (CC to Fishlake.gpx and 99 points for example), it flat locks up the BOOM nav. When you navigate to "TRIPS" and click on "CC to Fishlake" it hesitates for 30 seconds then comes up with the route "CC to Fishlake"...click on that and it goes crazy. The name darkens out and the pencil icon on the right starts to flicker. After about a minute, BOOM reboots and you start over. The trip cannot be deleted without a factory reset. REALLY a PITA and not very forgiving.
I made one cardinal mistake when I was troubleshooting...I did two thing at the same time...I truncated the filename to "Fishlake.gpx" and reduced the number of points from 99 to less than 50, so now I'm not sure which made it successful.
What's the max number of points BOOM will accept now with 1.21.2.1??
Good info. Sorry to say that I don't know the max number of waypoints that the boom will accept.
when I use Honda Ride Planner, I know the max waypoints is 25. I at this because, if I import a route that I made in Harley, Honda comes up to say that the max is 25 and they reduce the number.
I have imported files with long names - so, I have to suspect that your reduction of waypoints is the difference.
I'm thing the same thing...In actuality, one could probably navigate around the world with 25 waypoints! LOL
I was mostly experimenting with a high number of pts....I just built a route I'm gonna ride tomorrow with 4 pts and it is 300 miles round trip. I have not loaded it into BOOM yet but I'm going to give it a try in a bit.
