I know one of you geniuses are rigging up a way to tap into the water line before it hits the first radiator, for a digital thermometer, for a real time water temp. I plan on keeping my 2014, so give it up. Sell me the plans with part #, or a kit.
May I ask why you would want to know the water temp? It's not like you're going to be able to do anything about it if the temperature switch, the fans or the water pump fails while you're on the road.
Find someone selling a used Powervision. You can't tune the bike with it without buying a new license, but you can monitor all of the engine sensors... including water temp.

Install a tuner like a power vision and you get full coolant temps and head temp read out among many others if you want.
Of course all you are really doing is driving yourself nuts with it.
I went through that temp **** on the old Road King, looking at the oil temp all the time. I finally took it off and just rode it. It only went 81,000 miles along with pulling 100/100 before selling it for the '14 FLHTK.
It's fun to be the Engineer on these bikes for a while, but I gave it up to be the Operator...LOL
I'm just a tad curious, cause I haven't had my fans kick on for over 18 months. I can manually work them.
Back when I had a poor mans stage one ( decatted headpipe, ebay slip ons, big sucker a/c and a PC5 with a canned tune) the fans would come on during most summer rides, and whenever I shut her down.
Early last year, I put on the SS ceramic jackpot headers along with fuel motos slip ons. They sent me a great map for the PC5.
With south Texas heat, is it semi normal to NOT have the fans kick on, ever.
I only notice mine kick on when I pull in my garage and then only for 30 seconds or so. I have a stock exhaust and a cam. When I'm out putting around, I honestly have never checked if the pump or fans are running or not, and I don't worry about it.
ignition on, do not start engine ,Turn throttle to full on and hold. Fans and pump will start and run continuously until ignition is turned off. This is also how you bleed the coolant system
A good country road ride yesterday, 83 degrees, absolutely no traffic, idling etc., 200 miles, pulled up to the garage, shut down, fans on for about a minute. Above 80 degrees on similar rides the fans normally come on for about a minute.
The fan activation parameters are listed in the manual, if they don't come on automatically there may be a sensor, relay that is faulty and i'd have it checked.
