My friend went back to Germany and shipped his 15 Limited there. They cant install Maps of Europe in Boom Box. Harley dealer said its not possible. Want him to buy a new unit for 2500 Euros. Anyone in Europe have similar problem. If its a fact he will buy new unit but sure doesnt want to.

Reason: Mistake
They might be telling him the truth, but it would be interesting to know why it is that way. If you go to the naviextras.com map update site, the only thing it shows available for Europe is the Russia area. If you find out why please let us know. I am not planning on needing them, but it would be interesting to know why they cannot be bought and installed on a USA/Canada model HD.

So, it appears the dealer is mistaken.

Read up on all the steps. (You must register your device first, then make a fingerprint ect.)
#8 will give instructions on how to do what he is looking for.
#9 will get him back once he returns.
They downloaded the maps just fine. He and the Harley dealer tried for 6 hours to no avail. I guess they made a call and Europeon map will not run on a North American unit. I also find they hard to believe but my friend says this is true
If you go for support they inform you to contact your Harley dealer outside of North America. Thats what he did and they couldnt install the Europe map. Then they said you have to change the unit for 2500 Euro. Id be mounting a Garmin at that price

That dealer is full of crap!
I installed replacement European maps DB on one of my local dealer's customer's 2016 CVO back in April of this year. He shipped it to Italy so he could ride it around Europe. He sent a text to tell me it worked fine for him.

Not true. See my previous post in this thread. That CVO had the NA maps DB installed from the factory. After installing the European maps DB, it wouldn't run here in the states, but worked just fine once it was in Italy.

This all points to lack of training for the dealers AND the H-D corporate support staff.
It works, but once the European maps DB is loaded, it won't run here in NA. But it will run once the unit is physically in an area the the map DB covers.
