The bikes from H-D in the 70's were and still are POS shovelheads, I had 4 of them. Lucky to get 25,000 without doing a top end job. Bottoms lasted probably 50-60 thousand.

I call bullsh*t. The Shovelhead I rode as a motor officer had more than 50K on the bottom end; and I beat it. I refuse to believe that 300 Twin Cams can't do that.

IMO the 103 is one of if not the best engine HD produced, wish the M8's was that good. Let me re-phrase that, I hope after they get the bug's worked out of the M8's they are as good as the 103's! There, that sounds better.

My hometown police have five or six 103 Rushmores. All have over 40k, none have required a rebuild.
