I have stretched bags on my 2016 street glide and have used the stock lids and hardware and I still have the original bags and just purchased a set of lids for them but now I am needing the complete hardware so I will have an option to switch out if needed for those twisty roads so are there any other options other than the dealer for everything or has anyone had a good experience with those Ebay complete kits? Thanks
Dealer replacements are too large and hangup on items slipped in and out of bags. Bought the fleabay type years ago ('14, when the bags were first reported falling off) and have been happy, with no loose bolts, easy to remove, and more room in the bags than HD types. Got the 1 1/2" round ***** that only stick out about a 1/2", that come with all the hardware.
I am referring to all of the hardware that actually hold on the lids such as the complete hinge setup as well as the rubber grommets that are under the bags and basically everything that is connected to the lids. Thanks for the response anyways.
I haven't priced what your asking for but typically the hardware items are fairly reasonable from a local dealer or one of the good online discount dealers.
When I built a new bag (fell off and got destroyed prior to the bag recall), I used all HD Parts, using the fiche on Ronnie's website as a parts ordering guide.
You may want to do that and find out how much the HD parts will cost vs aftermarket.
Depending on what parts you need to buy, I suppose. If I recall, some of the parts were not terribly expensive, but a couple were on the spendy side.
You know for sure HD Parts will exact fit, and if you need to get a new lock, it can be matched to your existing key, etc........
