So, I'm being very careful not to drip anything on my gas tank and open a bottle of Sta-Bil over the gas tank hole and ..... the inner cap falls in the tank.
Do I:
a) Forget about it and pretend it never happened.
b) Empty the tank, remove the tank and hope it will come out.
c) Sell my ride and leave town.
And yes , I tried to find it with one of those pinchy claw things. No luck.
I have a tool for removing foreign items. They are like spring loaded forceps and will grasp this item, once located underneath the gas fill. Takes a few minutes but grabbing a cap would be easy, but broken screens, tiny nuts and pieces of disintegrating rubber can be removed as well.
Learned as I restore old bikes and have used this method several times.
See, I’m a little nuts and I probably couldn’t live with this. I’d drain the tank as much as I could and get a cheap scope and one of those flexible grabbers zip tie them together and go in after it from the fill port.
And as soon as I submitted this, yet another “you’re a winner” pop up from this poorly managed site. Guess I’ll take some time off until they get their act together. Seems to happen every few months lately.
