Default Ride Planner issues

Need some help from the veteran Ride planner users out there. I keep having issues where my bike navigation (2016 Street Glide Special) keeps sending me off onto other roads than what I uploaded from Ride Planner. On my recent attempt, I reviewed the path before I downloaded from Ride Planner, uploaded it to my bike, confirmed the route and about 2 miles into ride- it started trying to send me on different roads and did this the entire trip. Is there something in my bike navigation setup (Preferences) that is possible causing this- fastest route, shortest route, scenic, etc? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

One thing I do is use plenty of waypoints, I try to put them just after any turns I will be making to the next road. This seems to have worked good for me.

Not sure about the settings, if they make a difference or not. I could see if the setting is on the shortest route that would make sense it would re route you.

I got tired of Harley's ride planner, couldn't log in a lot of the time, so I started using different ride planner called motogoloco. It works great and I don't have a problem getting re routed.

Yes, what josame said. Plenty of waypoints. Turn off most of your avoidances especially the avoid U turns one. I usually have my Nav system preferences set at shortest distance and I just lay out the waypoints so that the shortest distance between them follows the route I wish to take. With 100 waypoints to work with you can easily shape the route to where you want it. The downside of this method being that the NAV system is "talking" to you a lot.

Thanks for the input on this. The frustrating thing is that this was a simple From/To calculation. Did not have to make any changes to the plan (or add additional waypoints) and it still couldn't get it right. I'll look into this other program. Thanks

We all have this issue. Make sure your NAV preference is not fastest - otherwise, they system will keep tying to send you the fastest way.

Still, as said, more waypoints is usually the answer

Also make sure your bike is not set on highways and your route planned is on back roads. if so, it'll always try to take you to the highways.

When you make a ride the actual ride will only record a START and an END POINT for transfer.
When information is transferred to GPS the GPS can only see that START and that END POINT. Kinda like seeing the front and back cover of a book but can not see the inside of the book.
If you add numerous way points when creating the ride then those way points will transfer to your GPS unit.
The way points bend the calculating arm of the GPS to force it to follow your created route. Remember the GPS is constantly trying to route for time or distance.
Keep in mind to correctly mark your way points on the road and on the correct side of the road...placement of way point out in the trees or wrong side of the road causes GPS confusion...you need to zoom to review placement.
Finally, the return trip must be created if it is the same roads...you can not return with same ride plan in the opposite direction because of way point placement.

With a "to/from" the algorithm Ride Planner uses to show the route is not the same as the algorithm in the BoomBox NAV system. I think Ride Planner defaults to fastest time while the Boom Box uses your preferences and avoidances to shape the route.

Speaking of Ride Planner, has anyone else had problems using the website lately? I log in and plan a route, when i save it asks me to log in again, then my route is gone.
I've used it several times and am familiar with how it works but having problems lately.

I've never had an issue saving a route to a USB stick but I've never been able to get the program to save my routes to my account.
