I have long desired to mount a small flag pole on the luggage rack of my 14 Ultra. Thus ordered from BIG BIKE PARTS their 12" pole w/ 1/2" clamp / flag. Don't bother buying this item at it will not secure itself and simply rolls over. Mounting on the rear rail of the luggage rack is out of the question --- tried the side rail --- kinda/sort works but will flop over way to easily. As we accidently scratched the chrome when tightening down the pole shaft I cannot return it at this point. Thus the search continues for a good flag mount for the luggage rack. My desire is to mount a 9" x 6" flag -- the search continues ---------any recommendations appreciated.
End result is I cannot recommend this flag pole kit and for that matter BBP was way less than helpful on this.
I haven't pulled the trigger on one because I want a Maryland State flag, with the appropriate Botany Cross finial, which PP doesn't makel. Flag etiquette is a particularly annoying pet peeve of mine.
Check out thepropad.com. I have two of their 13" pole Tour Pak 5/8" Fixed Flag mounts with 10" x 15" flags on my '14 Limited. They also offer a 9" pole mount for a 6" x 9" flag. They have not moved once since installed well over a year ago. Holds up to 80+ mph speeds. Their flags are top notch quality too. The stitching is great as they have not frayed at all.
