Default Rubber on gribs turned shiny

The rubber on my heated rubber grips are shiny now after a couple years use. Is there any way to restore the rubber on them short of replacing them with new ones?

Have you tried cleaning them with a degreaser? Could be hand oils. If not then it's worn shinny and your need to replace them.

Replace them because they're shiny? Why? My heated grips are shiny and I always wear gloves.

I used to work at a golf course and when members grips would start to get shiny we hit them with comet and a scrub pad. I am not saying that is a good thing to do, but it made them tacky again. This was somewhere around 1986 so YMMV.

No, don't need to replace them just because they are shinny, hell, all my grips are shiny! LOL! The OP asked how to get rid of the shine, if not oil then the only way is to replace them.

I sand them once about every two years. Don't do the end caps - they don't like it.

Takes literally seconds with 1% effort. No loss of rubber. You're welcome.

I use Grip Puppies on mine to give me a little bigger grip to hang onto. Heated grips work fine with them on and they still look like they did when installed. If they ever get bad I'll buy another set for less than $10 and do it again.

Well I certainly hope you are wearing the suggested safety gear as demanded by the good folks at 3M.
