Always took the heel shifters off my rides. However, I left it on the 2019 and use it all the time now. I use an extended heel shifter to give me all kinds of room.

I never had foot boards so never had a heel shifter...until I got my 2019 Road Glide a few weeks ago.

1,000 miles later I'm soooo happy with having it...but not needing it since I can still up/down with my toe.

I quickly got used to heel down for up that now using toe for up feels awkward.

To each his or her own, personally I love the heel shifter (which BTW came with the new bike).

I like the heel shifter myself. I had never had one until I got my '99 ULtra but quickly got used to it. I didn't know Harley had eliminated the heel shifter until this post. I looked at the website and the pictures don't show it. Then I looked at the parts & accessories page and you can buy the heel shifter for $49.95. Another way for them to make money.

Yup, the Kuryakyn one is around $40. I put one on my RK and gained the back half of my floorboards back.

I like my heel shifter. I rarely use the boards. Most of the time
my feet go directly to the highway pegs right off the start.

I grew up racing dirt bikes, going on 40 plus years now, first time I got a Harley in around 04 I though what ****ing moron decided this was a good idea? hahhaha heel shifter? I still have it on my 18 ( I had removed it from my last 3 Harleys) and use it once in a great while, still think its weird though.

I rode all weekend only using the toe shifter and I liked it because, as the OP suggested, upshifting was a lot quicker. As soon as my eliminator kit gets here, the heel shifter is going in the old parts box.

I love the heel shifter on my bagger, mainly because it saves footwear. Just added the Rock it Shift to my sportster as well, it's a heel-toe shifter that my foot rests on and just shifts back and forth without moving my foot. Not only does it save your boot toe, it's fast and smooth as all get out. Love riding with it on the twisties.

Love my heel shifter now that I can plant my size 12 on the floorboards thanks to extended levers.
