Default Heel Shift GONE.....

Rode Honda's for years as a young fellow without a heel shift and worked great. Then got my first HD touring model in 2008 and adapted to the heel shift with no issues. Actually liked it as it did not wear the top of my boots. So four touring models, 120 K miles and 11 years later and I notice that HD as eliminated the heel shift. It got me thinking and I bought the eliminator kit at the dealer a couple of weeks back. Have ridden three times now for about 300 miles total and actually like it a lot. I wish I had done it sooner. For me it is less movement of the foot, quicker upshift and the extra floorboard room is nice. Not to mention much easier to clean and polish the primary cover.

I know there are two schools of thought and what works for some doesn't for others. Just wanted to share my experience.

Ride safe

Looks great and practical...no more divot in the top of your boot.

The heel shifter is actually a spare toe shifter.

Looks good. Though I have no problems using my heel shifter and I'm used to it, I may remove mine because, one, I like the look and, two, I like the idea of having more room. Plus, quicker upshift is a definite plus. Thanks for posting!

Exactly, That's why I always take the heel shifter off. Put a piece of heater hose in the gap and move the shifter to the outside of the shaft. Looks like that Harley did. I throw the heel shifter in the bag with the tool kit as a spare.

You are correct. Mine are identical. Like in the movie "My Cousin Vinny", "IDENTICAL" and I'm holding both palms out in front of me!!!!!!!

Ride safe

Good point. The new models do have the longer bushing/spacer with the shifter in the outside position. However the eliminator keeps the shifter inward and simply covers the exposed stud. I though I would try it and it feels good and works for me.

I rarely use my heel shifter. My 9 year old grandson rides quad moto cross an the heel toe shifter really confused him when he noticed it.

One of the very first things I do with a bike is eliminate the heel shifter. Now if you REALLY want some foot room, swap out to Cyclesmiths Banana Boards.

Took mine off before I left the dealership. Put the chrome spacer on.
