I thought that is what you where saying but wanted to be sure. I just am trying to make the most informed decision I can. That is why I would like to hear from anyone that has the 25mm set up.
It is 9:41pm now and I get up very early to start work. I am slammed with more work than I can physically do. rodh has a cartridge that has no relation to what you are looking at so what ever information you receive is irreverent to your subject matter. I do not plain have the time to answer you back as today I had no spare time,
No problem Howard. I know your busy and I know Rodh’s cartridges are different then the ones I am looking at. I am just trying to gather whatever info I can find. Just get back to me when you have a free minute.
Made coffee, watched the local news, read fake media (Yahoo) "news", read several forums, and finishing up here. The street valving (without enclosed top out spring) is an inexpensive way to make a cartridge. It does compression & rebound by using the two sets of shims. In order to actually control your front wheel is to use your rebound shim stack and long top out spring . When you use a check valve as a perch and the very strong OEM top out spring, no extra control is used because you are relying on the maximum amount of stroke available (around 4 1/5" max). When you remove the check valve and use the new top out spring to limit your increased stroke, valve the cartridge and use a longer yet 3 N/mm or so top out spring so the wheel can travel controllable down into the hole. With no hole your sag sets the front end length and the bike will ride around that point, sag to bottom out. Extraordinary events are handled by the extended week top out spring. Of course the suspension must be built with this in mind from the beginning.
No top out spring and less exotic piston holder and needle valving passageways. Compression side of 30mm piston Street rebound side of 30mm piston Street Much bigger oil ports & expensive coated 30mm Road & Track piston 30mm Road & Track Cartridge. 30mm Road & Track Cartridge. I filled out an order form for the 30 mm cartridges from Howard today. Can’t wait to get them and do the install. Should make the trip to sturgis this year a much smoother ride.
