I don't know what years were affected, but there was the recall on the saddlebag hardware because saddlebags were falling off going down the road.

My 2014 limited was part of that recall- And I did have a bag fall off. HD did the recall work, and paid for a replacement bag.
Not sure if the 2015's or beyond were part of the recall. Dealer would be able to look up the bike and see if any recall work was still undone.

One of the things I liked about getting my '14 was the color, Two-Tone Mysterious Red Sunglo / Blackened Cayenne Sunglo, which was also available in '15, but not '16.

Either one you buy, if you ride it a lot the coolant pump will break, you can ride to the nearest dealer for a fix, and it will cost $750. Having been through this once with a 2015 and twice with a 2016 I feel qualified to speak. The fix is an upgrade so it's hopefully one and done. And as someone else mentioned, shifter shaft......would eventually be an issue on the 2014 but I think the part was upgraded by 2016. Cheap fix but I have seen a few stressed riders rolling into the dealer in 4th gear with a harried look on their face.

The OEM water pumps are the same on 2014-2016 Ultra Limited model years & are a weak spot. I knew some that had to replace it TWICE before the upgrade came on the 2017 model years & became available as a replacement. Those that have not had to replace the OEM pump, that is great. Mine went out on an Iron Butt run at 11K miles on the clock. The replacement German Pierburg pumps are light years ahead of the garbage OEM pump the MOCO used in 2014-2016. 15K miles now on the upgrade pump & so far so good. Really have not heard of any issues with it either on 2017 thru current models.

Which one catches your eye the most? Virtually no difference between the two bikes.

I have a 2014 with 57000 miles and no problems at all. If the 14 works for you I would not hesitate a 14. Mine was built in may 0f 14 if that helps. Good luck
