Default Front brake light switch problems

So I noticed my cruise wasn't canceling with my front brake applied like it used to. Low and behold I have no brake light when using the front brakes either. Everything works fine with the rear and I haven't made any changes to the bars, grips or lights for a couple thousand miles. I pulled the switch housing apart to check things out for any obvious problems and everything is there and accounted for. With the brake perch removed the brake light switch is fully released which should be activating the light, correct? I'm assuming its a faulty switch pack and plan on replacing the whole unit. Just making sure I'm not missing something simple before I spend the $$$.

I'm assuming so much but figured I'd ask for 2nd opinion in case I was overlooking something else. Thanks

I'd spray contact cleaner in the plunger area. Work it a few times to see if it'll trigger the brake light.

Good luck....

Both me and a buddy of mine had the same problem within a week of each other. Yeah, it's the switchpack.
He had his replaced under warranty and I had a right side switch pack hanging around from when the radio switch started screwing up on the left side and I changed that a while ago.

Not saying it might be a permanent fix but might give you a idea if that's problem before you drop the coin on a new switch pack.

Probably the switch but before buying the switch take an ohm meter an see if the switch works. It would suck if you buy a switch and it's not the problem.

I had the same issue. I was able to clean and lube the switch to get it working for a few weeks, but it would quit intermittently. I replaced the switch packs with the lighted ones - a nice upgrade that isn't much more than the plain ones if you are replacing them anyway.
