Default Narrow profile primary covers

Looking into one of these, to help offset my short inseam. Mainly for walking the bike backwards. I have a couple questions for those that MIGHT have answers for me.
First, looking at the HD website there are 2 parts (chrome only) that fit my bike (2014 FLHTCU Ultra Classic). One is #25700385, and the other is 60553-07A. For the life of me I cannot tell the difference, and the website says both fit my bike. Does anyone know the difference?

Second, I have seen some online, used, but the most common part number is 25700387. I wonder if the 385 version is a new production run? Anyone have any ideas on that? Looking up the 387 number, HD says part not found. I will probably buy from online, ebay, etc, but want to make sure am getting the correct part. Most are less than half new price.

Third, the pass foot pegs (floor boards actually) are a big interference for my left leg when walking backwards. Is there a narrower mount, that still allows use of the pass floorboards? Or does this now require foot pegs. She really likes the ability to move her foot a bit, with the boards.

Thanks in advance.

Ok I just noticed in the details of the 07-A model, says it does not fit the "L" models, so that must be the difference. Still wonder about the 287 model though.

The 07A part indicates an updated part back in model year 2007. That's well before the narrow primary so w/o even checking, that's not the part you want/need.

That stamped was on a primary cover listed on ebay. Says it came of a SGS, I forget the year, but it was within the range.

Thats interesting, since the HD web site clearly says it will fit my 2014.
Here's a screen shot from their site

I found an old thread, where a guy says the box for his new primary cover showed #25700385 but the part number 25700387 was embossed on the part itself.

Not being familliar with the inside of these covers, can someone tell me, after looking at the pictures in this listing, if this has the mod in it to sling the oil on the compensator? This question is based on some other readings.

FWIW, I don't think the narrow outer primary cover is gonna help at all with pushing the bike backwards. It isn't very much narrower, IF it is even a 1/2" narrower I'd be surprised. But the narrow primary cover's derby cover has a bigger diameter though, so if you do switch it out, be sure to get the derby cover for the narrow outer primary cover too.

Two things:
  1. The web shows it fits because it's NOT a narrow primary cover & in fact, was oem for 2014 FLHTK.
  2. The mod to sling oil on the compensator is part of the SE compensator kit & may or may not be installed in the primary cover, depending upon which compensator was installed on the take off bike. In this case, it appears not to be installed.

25700385 is a narrow outer primary cover
https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...ver/p/25700385
25700387 can't find anything on that number or stamping... could've been just what they stamped it,

60553-07A is the "regular" outer primary cover that came on the 14 (or 15 Ultra Limiteds and most other bikes)...
https://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche...A%20LIMITED%20

https://www.harley-davidson.com/us/e...er/p/60553-07A

A buddy has a 15 Ultra Limited, factory it has the "standard" width. My 16 RGU, factory has the "narrow"... main difference is the derby covers lol

Either will fit these bikes, and why HD put one on one model and the other on another, and even which years they did what, I can't figure out the method to their madness.
